When your client needs Thai counsel

When a matter reaches Thailand, you need a firm that can act on the ground, in Thai courts and with Thai authorities, in a language and style your client understands. JNP Legal is a boutique law firm in Bangkok, founded in 2009 by Nippita Pukdeetanakul, a Thai attorney and barrister-at-law. Our Thai and international lawyers act for clients in Thailand and abroad, and work with referring law firms on their clients' Thai-law needs.

We work with law firms across Southeast Asia and China, as well as in Europe, the Middle East and the USA, on corporate, commercial, real estate, litigation and arbitration matters in Thailand.

FAQ

Instructing Thai counsel: common questions

Can JNP Legal act as local counsel for our client's matter in Thailand?

Yes. JNP Legal is a Bangkok law firm advising local and international clients across corporate, commercial, real estate, litigation and arbitration matters. Tell us about the matter through our contact page and we will confirm how we can help.

Which languages do your lawyers work in?

Our team works in Thai and English, with Chinese, Spanish and Hungarian also spoken across the team. Our Chinese Market Sector, established in 2011, supports Chinese-speaking clients.

Can you support arbitration and the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in Thailand?

Our lawyers work with experienced arbitration practitioners on domestic and international arbitrations, from initial claim review and strategy through submissions and hearings, and can also assist with mediation and settlement negotiations. As our overview article explains, Thailand is a signatory to the 1958 New York Convention, and a party seeking enforcement files a petition with the Thai court.

What should we do if our client has been served with a Thai court claim?

Seek advice from a Thai lawyer immediately. Except in simple cases, an answer to the claim generally has to be submitted to the court within 15 days of receiving the claim and summons, and failing to do so can mean default. Our article on what to do when being sued explains the process.
